Is it possible to soften the museum? Can the inner self prevail over the gaze? Through these questions, blanca arias conjures an archive of tender gestures that challenge the rigidity of the patriarchal order in her book, Blandito blandito ¿Qué le hacemos les feministas al arte? (Soft Softly: What Do Feminists Do to Art?).
At Es Baluard Museu, we regularly program and promote book and publication presentations with the aim of directly prompting reflection on various issues that permeate contemporary art and artistic practices.
On this occasion, the author proposes a journey through different textures of softness as a form of feminist resistance against patriarchal rigidity and addresses softness as a resilient and liberating force, connecting feminist practices with the body, eroticism, and poetry. Through the work of artists such as Mari Chordà, Eva Fàbregas, Louise Bourgeois, and Sarah Lucas, the essay proposes a different perspective on art as an overflowing force that transforms and connects with the forces that shape it. Blandito blandito is a publication of a contemporary thought publishing house cielo santo.
