Expedició Sóller

- When:

- Target Audience:
- Children ages 9 to 12
Children will participate in an expedition around Port de Sóller led by artist Alberto Baraya. Throughout the project, they will search for artificial marine flora and fauna and then create a piece/inventory of all the collected objects to compare with the Balearic marine ecosystem.
During the activity, they will reflect on the natural versus the artificial, keeping in mind that focusing on the world of artificiality enhances the natural.
It is a project designed jointly with the artist and the educational teams of Es Baluard Museu, MUCBO (Fundació Jardí Botànic de Sóller – Museu Balear de Ciències Naturals) and Museu Marítim de Mallorca – Museu de la Mar.
Alberto Baraya, plastic artist, traveler and researcher who, through his projects and plastic works, focuses on the defense of the practice of art as a legitimate form of Knowledge, on the use of scientific methodologies as a tool for plastic research and on the use of The Expedition as its most effective format of work.
Over the years he has conceived the character of the Artificial Naturalist, a persistent and ironic explorer who seeks to reconstruct the lost identity of the relationships between man and nature.
