FOREST RANGER. DISCUSSION ON SUSTAINABLE ARCHITECTURE

The title uses the metaphor proposed by Zygmunt Bauman, on the attempt to approach the construction of subjectivities and corporealities in these mobile, liquid societies in opposition to the architectural approach based on the preventative control society. In reference to a resistance to architecture which produces “prickly spaces that prevent anyone from feeling, slippery spaces that cannot be accessed, apprehensive spaces watched over by human bodies or security machines” (Flutsy, in Bauman, 2006: 30-31).

Inserted into this trend, we will analyse the new spaces capable of establishing links, strengthening its urban, supportive and sustainable nature. We'll focus on the construction of spaces that comprehend their dual condition: ordered, and designed in contrast to the organic and natural. In addition, work will be carried out on concepts of bio-construction, recycling and optimisation of resources.

“Pre-Formatting” is a collective associated to Es Baluard, with multi-disciplinary, open proposals amongst agents linked to cultural production. Research into contemporary architecture implies the study of the social, planning and cultural development of the city. They study ways to bring the capacities of contemporary architecture closer to people, in order to transform the reality of the spaces where work is carried out on its interpretation, representation and social utility.
