Imagine the Museum

Workshop visit in which we will fcus on Space C (Floor -1) of the exhibition «In Conversation: The Museum and The Collection».
In this space, the most contemporary works from Es Baluard Museum Collection become a metaphor for the definition of a ‘Museum.’ Through the artworks, the characteristics that identify the museum institution are dissected and analyzed; concepts such as research, collection, interpretation, diversity, community, and education, all present in the recent and updated definition of museum by ICOM (August 2022). The aim is to open the debate on what a museum of the 21st century should be like and what challenges it faces in its future.
In this activity, we aim to share these concerns with the participants and talk together about museums, how we would like them to be and what we would like to do, to end up creating a collective archive of ideas that will grow with each group that participates. The activity will combine a tour of the exhibition with a conversation and creation session in the workshop space.
