IRENE LA SEN + XARRO DE LAS CALAVERAS. CAL VIVA

Cal viva is a poetic-sonorous project performed by Irene La Sen and Xarro de las Calaveras. This is the show the CD-book CAL (Ya lo dijo Casimiro Parker, Madrid 2010), entirely produced by Xarro de las Calaveras, was about, as well as two singles of the remix disc Electrical, with the poetic voice of La Sen on electronic music classics. Cal viva brings together auditory capacity and the gift of the word at an intermediary point, in what is an experimental operation. Sniffing out creativity. Perhaps poetry is not read, but listened to. A renovating structure, recovering the best-known form of expression of the beat generation and that of the great orators of the 20th century, to adapt it to the 21st century. Poetry is, at the end of the day, a way of communicating feelings. In this new era of big business, technology, precision and rushing around, new feelings and impressions emerge that are expressed through new proposals, as an alternative to the traditional way. These new genres, like spoken word, urban poetry or rap have in common their spontaneous, popular character, direct language, and current themes. All of them with a certain level of improvisation.

For years now Irene La Sen has been taking her poetry to stages, accompanied by music, or not, in gratifying spoken word shows. The young poetess Irene del Valle (Barcelona, 1984) expresses herself in the discipline of the word and music. She lives in Barcelona and Madrid, and currently resides in Palma de Mallorca, where she trained part of the Up Rockin group, takes part in the promotion of urban culture and writes lyrics and poetry. She is a member of the multidisciplinary festival R.E.A.L. Artmoda 07 and 08, and has taken part in several editions of the experimental art festival PING! She has also collaborated in talks organised by the Institut d’Estudis Baleàrics. She won the first poetry slam of Anticuario, and was invited to take part in the first European Poetry Slam in Berlin.
