Performative lecture by Fernando Castro Flórez, philosopher, exhibition curator, and Professor of Aesthetics and Theory of the Arts at the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid.

“Fernando Castro will deliver this lecture at the Post-Talayotic site of Son Corró, Costitx, where exactly 130 years ago, a farmer, his back broken from toil, struck with his hoe the metal of one of the so-called Bous de Costitx. A furious click that split the night into pieces, giving rise to the resonance of the famous phrase that continues to ring in our ears these days: Hem arribat a l’infern! (We have arrived in hell!).

In this act, Fernando Castro will speak about museography, archaeology, and the act of digging. He will address concepts such as the auratization of what is found, a museology folded into archival memory, the total aestheticization of behaviors, and the wandering journey that runs from excavation to the showcases and pedestals of museums/mausoleums.

The performance will conclude with the burial, in the ground of Son Corró, of a golden horn, a life-size replica of the horn of one of the three Bous housed at the MAN in Madrid, created by Bernardí Roig.
This real act of burying the third horn is a return, in the form of a metaphor, to the entrails of time of what belongs to time.”
