S’Albufera by Maya Triay and Mariona Jaume

On the occasion of Balearic Islands Day and within the framework of the events that celebrate it, we are programming a piece of contemporary dance and music, for all audiences, that addresses the relationship between people and the nature that surrounds them: S’Albufera by Maya Triay and Mariona Jaume, with live musical accompaniment by Clara Fiol. The performers explore, through the language of dance, the ecosystem of the lagoon, not as a physical space but as a symbolic creation of a sensory imagination.

Synopsis
Nature, a sustainable ecosystem. We are part of and are nature.
A landscape, a specific physical state, precise sensations.
This lagoon is not in Alcúdia, nor in Valencia, nor in Menorca, but in our sensory imagination. It is our lagoon. A natural place where we walk, live, coexist. We are nature and we dance cohabitation. With a civilized aesthetic, a beautiful gaze takes care of drawing and shaping this landscape. We are the lagoon itself, we are mud, a foot that steps, an animal, a leaf, a person, eyes.
We recognize it and respect it.
We remember it, we imagine it, we invent it and we dance it.
We have created a landscape and we are zooming in on it.

Biography
Maya Triay and Mariona Jaume studied in Munich and Madrid, respectively, and have been in different contemporary creation projects. The two Mallorcan creators and performers begin working together in 2022 thanks to the Art Jove Programme of the Balearic Islands. This contest encourages them to make their first joint creation, Thirty Set and a Half, which marks the beginning of their work as a team. 2023 was a year of growth and connections, the S’Albufera project was born in embryonic form, which in 2024 received the creation grant from the Institut d’Estudis Baleàrics and premiered at the Palma Dansa festival, as a work for unconventional spaces. During 2024, S’Albufera was performed at several festivals such as La Mercè in Barcelona, ​​FiraB! in Palma, Nit del Patrimoni in Tarragona and Festival Z, among others.
