SON SARDINA. TEIXIT DE NATURA (CARTOGRAFIEM-NOS PROJECT 2012-2013)

During the 2012-2013 school year, the pupils of 3rd and 4th Primary CEIP Maria Antònia Salvà led the Es Baluard's project "Cartografiem-nos", which aims to explore the neighborhood the center is located using the tools of contemporary art. Specifically, this fifty students chose to investigate two aspects: the gardens as a neighborhood identity, the former textile factory Ribas, and the Son Sardina water system (ditches, washes, irrigation, etc. which are still in force).  

This project culminated in the exhibition "Son Sardina. Teixit de Natura" (Nature Net), which brought together the work made by students in coordination with the Es Baluard's Department of Education and Training and that could be visited from May 28 through 31 in Barri Son Sardina and from June 7 trough 12 June in Es Baluard.  

The works on display, made by students during these last few months with the team in the Es Baluard's department of ​​Education and Training features photographs, installations, videos and documentation of a performance made by students.    

"CARTOGRAFIEM-NOS 2012-2013"  

"Cartografiem-nos" is intended to initiate a cross-sectional and long-term interdisciplinary task with schools, which is inserted in the curriculum of primary languages ​​used on the basis of contemporary art.  

The Es Baluard's Department of Education and Training worked during 2012-2013 from different cultures around the museum and the school district, making dialogue the voices of students, teachers, computer education, and also neighborhoods Son Sardina, so that its cross produced a significant learning for all involved in the project.  

The students from the CEIP Maria Antònia Salvà's second cycle of Primary carried out a project, reflected in the exhibition "Son Sardina.Teixit de Natura", which meant the outcome of a school year of reflection and research on the area of ​​Son Sardina: its history, transformation, its environment, its people and their peculiarities. Aware of the breadth and diversity of the neighborhood, hard cover in its entirety, the project focused on the concerns and interests of children.  

"Son Sardina. Teixit de Natura" was carried out thanks to the CEIP Maria Antònia Salvà's Primary School teachers, who were excited to launch the adventure proposed by Es Baluard's Department of Education and Training making them perfect allies, as well as the help of parents, grandparents of the Maria Antònia Salvà's primary school students. Also noteworthy is the participation and involvement of Ricard Terrades, Tomàs Fortuny, Joan Vila, Gaspar Valero, Pep Frau, senyora Paquita, Rosa Tugores and the collaboration of possessions Son Ripoll Vell, Son Ripoll Nou and Son Pacs Nou. In the same way, it is commendable support and recognition of CEP Palma, as well as collaboration in the project by the Department of Education of the City Council.
