The faces of war

Gervasio Sánchez is a photojournalist and as such has documented human drama throughout diverse conflicts from the 1980s on.

As he indicates, when he works in contact with suffering, his aim is that this encounter should cease to be contradictory, or at least allow an equilibrium of the different interests to be reached.

The photographer believes that the only way to achieve this is by establishing a tacit agreement with the protagonists of his photographs; personalising their drama, their grief, their hopes.

From this perspective, the photography that portrays human drama must avoid schematic depiction, frivolity and spectacle. These will therefore be some of the pivotal points of his master class.
