Jessica Stockholder

Jessica Stockholder studied painting at the University of British Columbia (Vancouver), and completed a Master’s degree in painting and sculpture at Yale University (in 1984 and 1985, respectively). She has been awarded the First American Prize in Rome by the American Academy of Rome (1985), and the Lucelia Artist Award from the Smithsonian American Art Museum (2007).

She has exhibited in museums and institutions around the world, including the Musée National d’Art Moderne – Centre Pompidou, Paris (2021); Centraal Museum, Utrecht (2019); SF MOMA, San Francisco (2014); Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum, Ridgefield (2011); Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía, Madrid (2010); PS1 Contemporary Art Center, Long Island (2006); CAPC, Musée d’art contemporain, Bordeaux (2003); Dia Art Foundation, New York (1995).

Her work is part of public and private collections such as the Art Institute of Chicago; Fundación Barrié, A Coruña; Museo Helga de Alvear, Cáceres; Corcoran Gallery of Art, Washington D.C.; Los Angeles County Museum of Art, Los Angeles; Whitney Museum of American Art, New York; Museum of Modern Art, New York; Musée National d’Art Moderne Centre Pompidou, Paris; British Museum, London; Stedelijk Museum, Amsterdam.
