The word and its power of intervention on the surroundings is the reference Eduardo T. Basualdo alludes to in this sculpture. A composition, simple in terms of the elements it is comprised of, but at the same time very sensationalist at the same time – a habitual appearance in his work – articulated around a used knife with the particularity that it has a double-edged blade. He resorts to a material object to describe something immaterial: the word; inviting spectators to reflect on language and its capacity to transform reality, by confronting them with something that does not exist, activating our mechanism for perception and awareness in an extremely subtle way.

E.T. Basualdo is a creator who lives and works in the capital of Argentina; he is a graduate in fine arts, and he complemented this training with scenography and puppetry studies. His artistic career moves forward with installation, sculpture and drawing, revealing the invisible side of our environs through these media, based on a routine character and materials like paper, metal or the architectural space itself. With a body of work in which he includes references to literature and the theatre, he offers up interventions in the architectural space and modifies the function of objects, creating alternative narratives that change our experience and impel us to search for new meanings.
