SALTANDO MUROS

“Saltando Muros” (Jumping Walls) is a display of emerging Latin American photography. The project aims at the possibility of rescuing art’s function as a social transformation tool. It also points towards a study of the possibilities of the impact of the photographic image not only when condemning, but also when making a serious, critical and profound analysis of a specific social reality through a selection of photographic work by different creators aged between 18 and 35.
 
Initiated in 2012, the project is organised by the Fundación Fondo Internacional de las Artes (FIArt) and the Secretaría General Iberoamericana (SEGIB) and enjoys the collaboration of leading museums and cultural institutions from ten countries: Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes Sede Neuquén (Argentina), Memorial da América Latina (São Paulo, Brazil), Museo de Arte Contemporáneo-Universidad de Chile, Museo Antropológico y de Arte Contemporáneo (Guayaquil, Ecuador), Casa de América (Spain), Es Baluard Museu d’Art Modern i Contemporani de Palma (Spain), Biblioteca Vasconcelos (Mexico), Coordinación Nacional de Artes Plásticas–INBA (Mexico), Gerencia de Cultura de la Municipalidad Metropolitana de Lima (Peru), Museo de Arte de Ponce (Puerto Rico), Museo de Arte Moderno (Dominican Republic) andCentro Cultural Kavlin (Punta del Este, Uruguay).
 
Another aim of the project is to establish an effective relationship between a museum project and the community it is destined for via an open, integrating proposal in which spectators are conceived as a fundamental component. One of the more interesting characteristics of “Saltando Muros” is that it is an initiative based on networking and efficiency in management and optimisation of resources to promote culture and exchange between different countries. Es Baluard is the only Spanish museum to display the itinerant exhibition, from 5^th June to 27^th July 2014.
