JUAN MANUEL BONET, CURATOR OF THE NEW EDITION OF ‘VIEWS OF ES BALUARD’S COLLECTION’

Juan Manuel Bonet will be the curator of “The murmur of the world: from informalism to new abstractions, 1950-2010”, opening at Es Baluard next September 16, coinciding with the Nit de l’Art, and to be visited until January 30, 2011. “The murmur of the world: from informalism to new abstractions, 1950-2010” is a new edition of “Views of Es Baluard's collection", the serie inaugurated September 17, 2009 with “Crossed landscapes”, curated by Cristina Ros, the Es Baluard's director.

Juan Manuel Bonet (Paris, 1953) is curator, art critic and writer. He's been director of the Instituto Valenciano de Arte Moderno (IVAM), from 1995 to 2000, and of the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía (MNCARS), from 2000 to 2004. During his career, he curated exhibitions as “El ultraísmo y las artes plásticas”, “Los años pintados”, “De Picasso a Dalí”, “El surrealismo entre Viejo y Nuevo Mundo”, “El objeto surrealista en España”, “El poeta como artista” and “España años 50”.

Among his works, Diccionario de las vanguardias en España (1907-1936), monographies of Toulouse-Lautrec, Edvard Munch, Juan Gris, Mariano Fortuny, Giorgio Morandi, Manolo Millares, Ramón Gómez de la Serna, Francisco Vighi, Rafael Alberti and Max Aub. He is the author of the poetry books La patria oscura(1983), Café des exilés (1990), Última Europa (1990), Praga.Doce poemas de Pavel Hrádok en versión de J.M.B.(1994), Postales (2004) and Polonia-Noche (2008), as well as dietary La ronda de los días (1990).
