A constantly growing and evolving community that inhabits the museum and experiences it through contemporary artistic practices and critical reflection, creating a network that is, at the same time, the catalyst driving the museum toward the future.

We connect contemporary artistic practices with the educational sphere, working beyond the classroom and the Museum’s walls through visits, gatherings, workshops, and diverse projects that bring us closer to creation—fostering dialogue, critical thinking, and research in order to learn collectively.
The Education Department of Es Baluard Museu offers a comprehensive program aimed at educational centers, adapted to each level or stage and aligned with the school curriculum. The focus is on interdisciplinarity and the integration of cross-curricular content, with special attention to designing programs that are inclusive for all students. Activities vary in content and are synchronized with the Museum’s programming, as specific or evolving programs are created for each exhibition change.
The main objective is to establish dialogue with the groups rather than to transmit canonical knowledge of Art History. In this way, the works from the collection become a starting point for students to reflect on their surroundings and on issues that affect and engage them. Contemporary art is thus used as a transversal tool that can be valuable for all educators, regardless of the subject they teach.
Activities are tailored to different groups through diverse methodologies, working dynamics, and support materials. In all cases, prior contact between the Es Baluard Museu team and the teachers is essential to ensure the activity is meaningful and beneficial.
Additionally, there is the possibility of organizing personalized and individualized visits based on the interests and projects being carried out at different educational centers, under the conviction that the Museum should serve as an extension of the classroom.
These activities are free of charge and are part of the “Palma Educa” program of the Palma City Council.

A first encounter with the museum through play, creation, and active observation… Families with children of different ages engage with the current exhibitions in a participatory way, encouraging learning and experimentation.

Projects aimed at social groups and organizations, their professionals, and diverse communities, with the goal of inhabiting the museum from an inclusive and participatory perspective, and developing collaborative and integrative actions.

In-house and guest activities shape a programme that highlights research and reflection around creation and contemporary culture, closely connected to the local context and approached from an international and multidisciplinary perspective.
