“Minor Architecture” is the title of the Ester Partegàs exhibition (La Garriga, Barcelona, 1972), conceived jointly for Es Baluard Museu d’Art Contemporani de Palma and Museo Centro de Arte Dos de Mayo de la Comunidad de Madrid as a comprehensive review of her work.
Bea Espejo, the curator, defines “Minor Architecture” as “an exhibition that alludes to architecture as opposed to architecture as an idea. For the artist, the minor is an open set of practices or spatial conditions based on the power of bodies, and interventions that respond to the latent but powerful desire to undo structures of power. It also contains a nod to those vernacular architectures produced by spontaneous activity, that art of building as a universal phenomenon that she connects with the marginal, the imaginal, and the feminine. The book includes texts by the curator Bea Espejo, Martin Herbert, Pilar Bonet Julve and Michael Taussig, as well as images of works.
