Contemporary dance show by Baal

Compost Community is an artistic and research concept centered on the recent works of the performance dance company Baal.

This proposal is linked to Projecte Kin, which also includes Post-Human Experiment #1—a work exhibited in November 2025 at Coster Art i Natura (Pollença, Mallorca) as part of Biennal B, a program spearheaded by Es Baluard Museu.

The work is set in an imagined future (the year 2094), in which Earth creates the first hybrid human species born from compost and waste. This being seeks to connect with plants, animals, and technology to found and shape the Compost Community. Inspired by philosophical currents such as transhumanism and the ideas of Donna Haraway, Baal uses this project to create four performers of different ages who use the body, organic matter, and electronics to reflect on interdependence, mutual care, and interspecies coexistence on a devastated planet.

Baal is a dance company working on the hybridation of languages, ranging from contemporary dance, dance theater, performance, and technology in order to create performing arts projects, mostly dedicated to children and youth, that can be carried out in theaters, schools, as well as in non conventoional venues or museums. The company was founded by Catalina Carrasco and Gaspar Morey in 2013 in Majorca, Balearic Islands. Their main focus being on creation through research and experimentation, as well as on provoking social, community, and educational projects.
