Confluences: art and navigation

International Museum Day (IMD) 2026 will be celebrated on May 18th under the theme “Museums Uniting a Divided World.” This theme, promoted by the International Council of Museums (ICOM), highlights the capacity of these institutions to act as cultural, social, and geopolitical bridges, fostering dialogue, inclusion, and peace in times of polarization.

With the spirit of culture as a meeting point in this divided world, Es Baluard Museu and the Museu Marítim de Mallorca – C.C. Ses Voltes have joined forces to present a joint activity that connects our exhibitions, collections, and histories.

“Confluences: Art and Navigation” is a two-pronged exploration of the exhibition “Jannis Kounellis. Labyrinth Without Walls” at Es Baluard Museu and the collection of the Museu Marítim de Mallorca – C.C. Ses Voltes. It takes the sea as its central theme, understood as the medium through which ideas, dreams, and cultures have traditionally travelled.

Registration for this activity includes attendance at each museum visit, as it is a single, integrated experience connecting the two cultural institutions.

Displacement between the two museums will be on foot.
