Talk by Punzadas

Es Baluard Museu presents a talk entitled El cielo a ras de tierra, una travesía filosófica. Led by Punzadas, it will revolve around the discourses present in the exhibition “We Meet in the Night” by Elisa Braem, curated by Aina Pomar Cloquell, which will be on view until February 1, 2026.

Western philosophical tradition has drawn a fundamental distinction between up and down, heaven and earth, the conceptual and the real. Can art problematize this dichotomy? Are there possibilities for perspectives beyond anthropocentric thought? Can we also think with our hands and abandon a strictly cerebral view?

Inés García and Paula Ducay are Punzadas. Through their voices, they invite us to reflect on the liminal, the dark, the damp, the subterranean, the celestial, and the vegetal, through Braem’s sculptural work. As Pomar states in her curatorial text, they will place the sky at ground level. This meeting aims to be participatory, and after the dialogue initiated by Inés and Paula, the conversation will be open to the public to share impressions and thoughts on the topics discussed and on the exhibition itself.

Punzadas is a cultural project conceived and directed by philosophers Inés García and Paula Ducay. Through this project, they organize various cultural activities such as book clubs and literary workshops. They have also collaborated with Cadena SER, El Cultural, elDiario.es, and Carne Cruda, as well as institutions such as Spanish Ministry of Culture, Círculo de Bellas Artes, CaixaForum, and various universities and public libraries. In their podcast, Punzadas Sonoras, they discuss topics that resonate with them from a philosophical and cultural perspective, in a rigorous yet engaging way. They recently launched a new audio project called Las Glosas, where they analyze short and diverse texts (academic articles, novel excerpts, works of art), drawing inspiration from the act of glossing characteristic of medieval manuscripts.
